BIO:
I grew up in Detroit, Michigan and relocated to upstate New York, where I have resided since 1987. Within the last few years, the work — especially the encaustic paintings, revealed a creative energy that was shaped by my formative years in Michigan when I studied Painting and Printmaking at Wayne State University in graduate school in Detroit. Some of my encaustic paintings try to capture Detroit’s beauty, decay, and re-ruralization. There is a shift now in focus that appears evident in my latest encaustic paintings, and I am not sure what to say about them other than that they reflect the combined urban/rural area where I presently live in Oneonta.
